The Indigo Laser system, or interstitial laser coagulation, is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of BPH, or enlarged prostate.
The Indigo system delivers energy to the enlarged tissue of the prostate through a fiberoptic tip. This tip is inserted into the enlarged prostatic tissue, without any cutting, and destroys the enlarged tissue. The body gradually absorbs the tissue naturally.
The Indigo Laser System (ILC) uses thermal energy to physically reduce excess prostatic tissue. The thermal energy is delivered into the prostatic tissue via a fiberoptic tip that is inserted into the excess tissue. Within a few weeks, the tissue that has been destroyed will be absorbed by the body.
