TUNA, or Transurethral Needle Ablation Therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of BPH, or enlarged prostate.
The TUNA System delivers radiofrequency, or RF, to the enlarged prostate. The heat delivered through the twin needle system produces coagulative necrosis to the enlarged prostate tissue.
The TUNA System delivers RF energy through a twin needle delivery device. This RF energy is applied to the prostatic tissue, while preserving the urethra. The energy delivered heats a defined area of tissue, creating an area of necrosis in the prostatic tissue. The needles are covered by adjustable shields that protect the urethra from thermal damage and localize the lesions within the prostate.
